Maersk updated Ocean services - Far East and Africa

Written by Ziegler One | Nov 27, 2023 6:28:10 AM

Maersk has announced updates to its ocean shipping services between the Far East and Africa, effective from the first week of December. The FEW2, FEW3, and FEW6 services will have updated rotations, and a new feeder service called Cape Town Express will be introduced, connected to the updated SAFARI service. These changes aim to provide seamless and reliable connections between the Far East and West Africa, offering more comprehensive coverage and shorter transit times. South Africa will now be served by a dedicated feeder service via Port Louis, separate from the FEW service, to improve reliability and transit times. Maersk emphasizes the importance of delivering a resilient and reliable product to customers amid the rapid growth in African markets and changing market conditions.  This is an outcome of the high level of port congestion along the South African Coastline.

Full details can be found here but essentially Maersk won't be calling South Africa directly. Instead, they have introduced a new feeder service called Cape Town Express, which will be connected to the updated SAFARI service. This strategic decision by Maersk aims to provide a more efficient and reliable shipping solution for customers, especially considering the recent high level of port congestion along the South African coastline. By implementing the Cape Town Express, Maersk ensures that its ocean shipping services between the Far East and West Africa remain seamless and dependable. This innovative approach not only improves transit times but also offers more comprehensive coverage, catering to the growing demands of the African markets. Maersk is committed to delivering a resilient and reliable product to their customers, adapting to changing market conditions, and providing optimal solutions for their shipping needs.
